2008 Summer Program

General Information

The Traverse City Swim club is an age group swim club operating under the policies of Michigan Swimming, a division of USA Swimming (USS). It is composed of boys and girls, ages 5 to 18, who live in the Grand Traverse area. The team exists to provide an opportunity for young people to participate in competitive swimming. TCSC is a parent-run organization and as such requires parent participation to be successful. Breakers alum Elyse Schultz will coach the summer Junior Breakers team this season

When Does the Summer 2008 Program Begin?

Junior Breakers sessions are held every Thursday beginning July 10th for four weeks (July 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st). Classes run from either 4 to 5 p.m. OR 5 to 6 p.m.

How Do I Know If I Qualify For The Team?

Only swimmers who have reached the "Breakers" level, or swimmers from the high school team, are eligible to swim with the Breakers team. The coaches will determine the placement of each swimmer based on the swimmer's mastery of the different strokes, swimmer's goals, etc. Swimmers new to the team will be evaluated by the coaches in the first week of practice. Our coaches will do their best to place your swimmer in a group of swimmers with similar skills. You may request a particular time to swim and our coaches will try to accommodate your request as best as possible, but the overriding consideration is swimmer skill and where he/she has the best chance of being successful in the water.

Junior Breakers swimmers must schedule an evaluation prior to joining the team.  Call or write Victoria Sylvester (938-0367, tcbreakers@live.com) to schedule your swimmer's evaluation.

What is the fee for the Summer 2008 program?

The fee for the summer 2008 program is $50.

How Do I Register My Swimmer?

You may register your swimmer online by visiting our Junior Breakers registration page. Payments may be made by check at the pool on the first night of the program or online via PayPal.
